Paintings | Oil
Most of my oil paintings are from the viewpoint of being on the ocean looking headlong into a stormy sea trying to read the clouds. In the water or at the easel I confront the tension looking for resolution. At those moments I feel alone with my soul. The stormy sea, a metaphor for life. My fear builds in lock step with the storm until good sense prevails sending me back to safe harbor. The weight of a bristle brush loaded with oil sliding around the canvas is not unlike the aroused state of riding out big waves; raw energy drives the outcome but the water always wins.
